Diploma in Debt Restructuring

The Diploma in Debt Restructuring is a bespoke qualification developed in collaboration with NatWest Commercial Banking and awarded by the Chartered Banker Institute. The overall aim of the Debt Restructuring programme is to enhance learners’ ability to recognise a business in distress, assess its viability, and propose a solution that ensures mutually acceptable outcomes for the customer, the bank and other key stakeholders. On completion of the Debt Restructuring programme, learners are able to: • assess and reflect on financial and non-financial information about a business to identify factors that suggest the business is in distress • critically assess the long-term viability of a business in distress • reflect on a range of legal, regulatory, ethical, social and psychological factors that can influence potential solutions for a business in distress • propose potential solutions for a business in distress that fairly consider the outcome for the business, the bank and other key stakeholders, and which optimise the management of the customer relationship • critically evaluate potential solutions for a business in distress • create and present an holistic strategy for supporting a business in distress.
